Prince Pelayo you've made me want to jump back to the 90's, grab my favorite pair of overalls, deck myself out in heavy silver and bedazzle my jean jacket in studs. Ok, that was a mouthful, but Pelayo provides the kind of inspiration only found in an episode of Blossom, or by Nirvana in their prime.

It's his juxtaposition of 90's grunge with modern clean-cuts that make this look relevant today. Although known to be an endless partier, always attending the latest fashion kick-offs, he always adds the right amount of sophistication to his attire, a must in order to stay current.

The trench coat is making a comeback… again?

A staple in both men and women’s wardrobes for over a century, the trench coat isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

A seemingly simple piece, it's actually

been in constant transformation for years!

Originally introduced by Thomas Burberry- founder of the luxury clothing br

and Burberry- very few know the 'trench' was made for soldiers and officers to literally wear in the trenches! (Suddenly it all makes sense).

Like most military wear, the fashionistas were quick to get their hands on this look, appropriating it to be a little more street chic

A few ways to make your own trench statement:

1) Colour me Trench!

Bring some flare to your style by throwing a colourful trench over any outfit! Running on a low budget? Simply purchase some clothing dye and wash it in it!

2) Belt Me!

Adding a belt can add shape and sex-appeal to any coat! It also helps to show a bit of your personal style!

3) Add some flare Throw on a statement necklace to add a little glamor to your look! It will draw attention to your neckline.

Today, Burberry has found a way to worship the sophisticated look by hosting the website Art of the Trench. The man famously known in the fashion world as The Sartorialist, Scott Schuman, travelled the streets of the worlds largest fashion capitals searching for the perfect "trench" look (he even came to Toronto)! This campaign was to honour the history of this classic Burberry look. A great way to show people a traditional look appropriated by people all over the world.

It's not shocking that department stores across Canada have been faltering over the past few years. With out of date clothing lines, clutter and an image associated with our grandparents, they are more than out of date.

But how could a company who is so deeply tied with Canadian Culture fall so low? The Hudson Bay Company is associated with the creation of Canada: providing clothes for natives and new citizens for centuries.

So why is it today considered a place that only your grandmother should shop, or a lounging destination (bedding) after a long day at more popular stores?

Bonnie Brooks the fearless (and fabulous) new CEO and president of The Bay asked the same question, and today, she's bringing life and youth back to the department store.

What steps has she taken?

1) She began her warpath by revamping what has been formally known as the St. Regis Room, known simply to Torontonians as "The Room".

This small salon has brought designer labels to Toronto society since its creation. However, today it's a place where you actually have to dust the cobwebs off its sleeping citizens.

Brooks has retaken in, introducing designers such as Chanel, Balmain and Armani. "The Room is back in action, bring in some of Toronto's greatest socialites, remaking The Bay as one of Toronto's fashion destinations.

It gets better.

2) Brooks is taking the company back to its roots with a new modern, fashion-forward twist. She has reintroduced the Hudson Bay company point-blanket coat, using some of Canada's most prominent designers such as Erdem and Pink Tartan to reinvent this classic concept.

3) The point-blanket coat has also landed on the cover of Fashion magazine, creating hype about the new store within the Canadian fashion scene. Someone's back in action!

Anywho, I still think this shoot is fabulous.

Miranda Kerr looks fantastic, the wardrobe is ultra-creative, and although the theme is somewhat overused, I'm still loving it's rebellious edge!

The award winning, and personal favourite, director Sofia Coppola will soon be releasing her newest film, Somewhere.

Models Erin Wasson and Maryna Linchuk will be making appearances as seductresses to the main character, a bad-boy Hollywood actor newly discovering a relationship with his 11 year old daughter.

Her films usually feature vivid colours, and awkardly realistic shots, and from the trailor, it seems that this one will promise the same intriguing results.

We'll just have to wait until December 22...

These offbeat ads are Fallon's brainchild for the new French Connection campaign.

Introducing the FCUK campaign in the 1990's, it's about time they added a new edge to the brand.

The awkward humor adds a more approachable, yet sophisticated, aspect to the label.

I think it makes it more likeable, as you get to know the characters.

The video's add a contemporary flare to the campaign. Also, I'm loving the touch of irony with the French narrator.

Another blog, Stay Calm, brought it to my attention that these ads are a parody of the 1967 short film "The Perfect Human" by Jorgen Leth (check it out below).

Vanessa Paradis has come a long way since her "Joe Le Taxi" days. She's replaced Lily Allen in the Chanel Coco Cocoon campaign and is already the face of the Chanel lipstick Coco Rouge.

Once again, Lagerfeld decided to take the creative reign of this shoot, creating amazing results.

I love the black and white, and although the Coco Cocoon bags aren't my personal favourite, these ads make them appealing enough to make me want one.

Karl Lagerfeld's much anticipated short film Remember Now debued at the St. Tropez resort celebrations last week.
So many inspirations to be found in this video!

Do we enjoy Lagerfeld's short and catchy dialogue? Or does verbalizing his influences seem redundant?
Whether or not the dialogue is stimulating, the sparkling and luxurious visuals are enough to bring anyone to Lagerfeld's fantasy world, found in the only place suitable, St. Tropez.

I've been awkwardly dancing around my house singing Alejandro all morning and my moves have only been successful in promoting confused looks and my desire for a foreign lover (joking?)

This is the first still released from Gaga's newest video directed by Steven Klein. Klein has been recognized as one of the great American photographers of our time and has been known to work with high profile celebrities such as Madonna and Tom Ford.
I can't wait to see his next masterpiece, then at least I'll have some coordinated dance moves to follow.

Has anyone noticed the art world's reluctance to let go of the Polaroid?

I love the low saturation and brightness of these photos. These effects produce a dream-like image, making me a bit nostalgic, as if these ads are my own memories.

One more marketing example why Polaroid should not be rendered obsolete.

I've never really pictured Kirsten Dunst as a glamorous starlett, however, this Mario Testino shoot in V Magazine has shown me her more mature side.

She is the perfect vision of a film star.

Her drooping eyes reveal her almost always hidden sex appeal, while showing the tragedy of becoming an icon.

It reminds me of Marilyn Monroe in the photographs below.
According to Vogue.com "Mario Testino will make anyone he photographs look the best they ever will", well so far, I'm convinced.

Balmain Fall 2010 has brought me one step closer to living my dream of becoming Mick Jagger.
Alright, I may never be a world famous performer, but can't I just look the part?
This collection is 17th Century Baroque meets 1970s rock and it seems to be the perfect combination of edgy elegance.
The hourglass shaped dress reminds me of the gorgeous Balenciaga dress from Spring 2008- my favourite designer season thus far.
Christophe Decarnin thanks for keeping us on our toes and mixing this season a bit further from the classic military look.

Trend One of the Far off Fall Season: Fur.

It seems that across the board there is an aggreance that fur is back.

Reminiscent of the beautiful imaginative film Where the Wild Things Are, some of these designs seem to imitate untamed creatures rather than wearable fashion (how do we feel about the Chanel fur suit?)

However, the beauty of fur and feathers is undeniable as these women transform into mystic creatures roaming the runway.

I love when fashion allows you to transform to another place, time or even species.
Sidenote: Chanel used faux fur in this line!

Hair Art?

At first I was undecided about whether or not a video of flying hair should be considered art, however, experiencing a strange fascination with the clip I had to look further.

It turns out this is not a 'video' at all, but a serious of photographs taken at 1000 frames per second!
In reality the time elapsed in the clip is only a mere two seconds that's been stretched out to two minutes in slow motion.
Talk about appreciating the moment.

Natalia Vodianova is the new epic beauty of the YSL manifesto.
Invented by new creative director Stefana Pilati as a "more democratic way to reach the customer", the manifesto is having quite the impact.
Literally being handed out on the streets of Paris, New York, Milan, London, Tokyo and Hong Kong, Pilati is raising the bar in creative advertising.
Along with the online films, the manifesto is a catologue feauturing the model of the moment showing off the most recent line in stores.
Pilati seems to be redefining cool within YSL, appealing to younger crowds and gaining more attention from the press.

In memory of the brilliant Alexander McQueen, who commited suicide February 11, 2010 at only 40, I will be posting clips and images from throughout his career over the next few weeks.
I know this post is a little over due, however, it cannot be missed.
The world is truly a less creative place without his inspirational designs and dramatic runway shows.
Named "the most influential designer of his generation", McQueen will truly be missed.

Does the name Jay Malinowski mean anything to you?
Well for me it brings to mind a few different things: soulful voice, sexy style, acoustic sensation, and of course, Bedouin Soundclash.

Lead singer Jay has recently released and produced his first solo album with Bedouin owned label Pirates Blend and so far it's quite a success.

According to his biography, this album shows a new side of Jay, "quieter, deeply personal and incredibly contemplative", and after listening to it, I concur.

The only way Bright Lights and Bruises could be improved is by hearing it live, and the intimate Starlight in Waterloo is the perfect venue to compliment the sound.

This season Mulberry designer Emma Hill's inspiration came from muse, and fashion goddess Alexa Chung and you can see it in the goods.
She mastered Alexa's powerful feminine edge to create a line of mini-dresses (huge trend this season), bright colours, and beautiful bags.

Being a blonde pink has been pushed on me my entire life, so lets just say I've been a bit more than reluctant to fulfill the stereotype!

However, becoming much more comfortable in my own skin I say, bring on the pink! It's great to feel feminine and fun!

And if that's not your thing, try sticking to the Twenty8Twelve pinks with a bit of a tougher street style exterior!

With the direction of 'extreme happiness' Som set out to make (in his words) "all the clothes sparkle", and that they did.
The feminine 1920's cruiseship elegance is causing quite a stir in the fashion world as this young San Francisco designer gains both confidence and recognition.

With some of his greatest fans starlets such as Scarlett Johansson he has to be doing something right.
At first glance I thought, Chanel with colour? But immediately knew Som was going in his own direction.
Im bursting into Spring 2010 with the inspiration of colour...and maybe those sunglasses?

Thank goodness for the confirmation that someone else is dealing with an immense designer shoe fetish!
I was beginning to believe my desire to wear the hottest, highest, most colourful, studded, stylish shoes was getting out of hand, but now I know my obsession is miniscule next to photographers Kate Bellm and Dylan Don.
Travelling the world taking pictures of the hottest heels and fabulous foot wear, the pair (haha pun) have created a serious sensation.
Showing in the exhibition "In Their Shoes" at the Galerie M.H. Karst in Paris, these images had to be shared.

The greatest thing about this spread from the new, and apparently nonexistent magazine The Gentlewoman is the brilliant shopping channel like descriptions.

Reminiscent of a 1950's infomercial, this issue is a refreshing peak into what a magazine can be with a hint of imagination and pizzaz.

Love the silly and sexual touch of the cone shaped 1980's Madonna bra which adds a bit of irony to the classy upper brow composition of the photographs.

As always, loving the pussy cat.

He was recently quoted saying
